摘要
Purpose. The authors investigated the relationship between changes in calcium, phosphate and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan (bone densitometry) parameters in HIV-positive postmenopausal women in Abidjan.Patients and methods. This study examined 138 postmenopausal women with HIV, in whom blood levels of calcium and phosphorus, and bone densitometry by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry were performed.Results. The age of patients ranged from 44 years to 78 years with a mean age of 55.5 +/- 6 years. Hypocalcemia was found in 54.3%, more than half of the patients and 45.7% of patients had normal baseline levels. Concerning phosphorus, it was normal in the majority of cases (93.5%). Hypocalcemia was significantly associated with the occurrence of abnormalities in bone densitometry while these abnormalities in bone densitometry were not significantly associated with variations in serum phosphorus. Serum calcium and age of menopause were associated with the occurrence of reduced bone densitometry and risk of finding these abnormalities in bone densitometry appeared when menopause had lasted at least 10 years. HIV infection was significantly associated with the occurrence of abnormalities in bone densitometry and prevalence of abnormal bone densitometry with 29.7% prevalence of osteopenia and osteoporosis. Associated with calcium phosphate biochemical parameters, bone densitometry is useful in monitoring postmenopausal women, particularly those with HIV, real public health problem in our endemic areas.
