Preparation, characterization and thermal decomposition of sodium and potassium salts of dithiocarbamate

Pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (Pyr), piperidinedithiocarbamate (Pip), morpholinedithiocarbamate (Mor), diethanolaminedithiocarbamate (DEDC) and hexamethylenedithiocarbamate (Hex) sodium and potassium salts, were synthesized, characterized by IR, elemental analysis, 1 H and 13 C NMR and their thermal behaviors were investigated using thermogravimetry (TG) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The decomposition of sodium salts occurred in different manner depending on the nature of the substituent, generating sodium polysulphides.
