A measurement analysis of the relationship between cultivated land quantity changes and socioeconomic in Tianshui City

According to statistical data of Tianshui City from 1996 to 2008, we establish multiple regression analysis model, analyzed the relationship among economic development, population growth and land resources. The results showed that: With the rapid development of population, economic and urbanization in Tianshui City, the demands of quantity and quality for cultivated land were increasing rapidly, but the cultivated land resources were decreasing successively; the driving force of cultivated land use and cover change is population growth, which showed significantly negative effect on cultivated land use; in recent years, level of intensive utilization had enhanced, and the way of economic development is transforming to a capital-intensive and land conservation styles, so the impact of economic development on the cultivated land is not so obvious as the population growth.
