Blocking Bug - Complete Atrioventricular Block in Chronic Chagas Disease

Summary We report the case of a Bolivian woman with a complete atrioventricular block due to Chagas cardiomyopathy. Diagnosis was established by echocardiography and highly positive serological results for Trypanosoma cruzi americanum. Treatment included initiation of an ACE inhibitor and implantation of a dual-chamber pacemaker, as well as an anti-parasitic medication with benznidazole.
