Feature extraction from images of thermal treatment systems

Recent advances toward the development of a multiwavelength CCD camera system as an on-line monitor for thermal treatment sources are reported. The information extracted from digital images of a premixed acetylene/air flame is used to determine the seed atom density and two-dimensional density distribution. Preliminary results of a study of the correlation between extracted image features and plasma torch operating parameters are also presented. The imaging feature extraction technique can be used to monitor/optim ize thermal treatment processing of the mixed hazardous wastes and other industrial processes.
