•We consider the joint pricing and inventory model of Bhattacharjee and Ramesh (2000).•We give an exact and efficient algorithm instead of a heuristic or inefficient one.•We prove additional properties leading to an even more efficient algorithm.•We point out shortcomings in the modeling and analysis in Bhattacharjee and Ramesh.
