Photoreceivers for coherent and direct detection of 100 Gb/s data rates, consisting either of 90 degrees optical hybrids integrated with pairs of balanced detectors forming coherent QPSK photoreceiver OEICs, or pin-diodes with travelling-wave amplifiers, are presented.
