Stabilization of MCRS1 by BAP1 prevents chromosome instability in renal cell carcinoma

•BAP1 interacts with MCRS1, and targets MCRS1 for de-ubiquitination and stabilization.•BAP1 contributes to chromosome stability partially via MCRS1.•BAP1 expression correlates with MCRS1 in ccRCC.•BAP1 loss and MCRS1 down-regulation in ccRCC were associated with adverse clinicopathological features.
