摘要
The population of the developed world is growing older, leading to shortages in the labor market, and the age and level of education of migrants will be important factors in the labor market in the coming decades. This paper presents a theoretical framework in which the timing of migration and the educational attainments of immigrants are determined endogenously. The combination of social and economic factors related to migration allows us to detect different patterns in these variables. The main finding is that the optimal age for migration, in the case of individuals who attain a higher educational level, is lower than those who have a lower level of education.
