摘要

•2-Mercaptonicotinic acid monolayers were investigated at Au(111) surfaces.•The Fe2+/3+ redox probe penetrates the SAM films at pinholes for electron transfer reaction.•Monolayer properties were obtained by reductive desorption and SERS.•Surface pKa characterization of SAMs at different pH.•Different adsorbed structures with pH are found.
