摘要
s / Can J Diabetes 36 (2012) S24eS76 S72 betweenwomen aged 50-67 years from 1999 to 2007with diabetes and age-matched women without diabetes, adjusting for SES quintiles (based on neighbourhood income), comorbidity, and primary care visits. We also evaluated how SES influences mammogram use among women with diabetes. Results: Of 199,759 women with and 399,518 women without diabetes, 59.0% and 58.5% received a mammogram over 3 years respectively. Diabetes was associatedwith a significant reduction in mammogram use after adjustment for health care use and other covariates (odds ratio, OR 0.83, 95% confidence interval, CI 0.82, 0.84). Among women with diabetes, low SES was associated with a further decrease in mammograms compared to high SES (adjusted OR 0.66, 95% CI 0.62, 0.69). Conclusions: Women with diabetes had a significant decrease in mammograms compared to those without diabetes when accounting for their higher health care usage, with the greatest disparity among women with both diabetes and low SES. These findings indicate that the presence of diabetes may decrease cancer screening despite regular health care, and that low SES may further exacerbate this association.
