ECMO transport of critically ill patients

Introduction: Critically ill patients with cardiopulmonary failure in primary care centers usually need transfer to tertiary care facilities. In case of severe shock, local placement of an ECMO is an option as it allows cardiopulmonary stabilization and safe transport of the patient.
