Physical Therapy for Patients with External Ventricular Assist Device

Mechanical circulatory support with a magnetically levitated, centrifugal flow external ventricular assist device (VAD) is used as salvage therapy in refractory cardiogenic shock. As an external VAD may limit mobility, we have developed a cannulation technique to allow for ambulation during physical therapy (PT) and present our experience.
