Transient modeling of fiber spinning with filament pull-out

•The stability of fully axisymmetric fiber spinning with filament pull-out is modeled.•We develop a numerically efficient algorithm for the dynamics of filament detachment.•The axisymmetric filament pull-out model is more stable than the thin filament model.•We could not confirm that the spinning force is a function of the detachment position.•The integral momentum balance from literature is not valid at the detachment point.
