•Identification and quantification of metabolites of AB-CHMINACA in human urine.•The identification and quantification were performed using reference standards.•We used modified QuEChERS method for extracting analytes and LC–MS-MS for analysis.•Two types of metabolite of AB-CHMINACA were determined in authentic urine specimen.
