Formation of hyperfragments in annihilation of stopped antiprotons on photoemulsion nuclei

For the first time, events of formation, emission, and mesonic decay of light hyperfragments LAMBDA/3 H and LAMBDA/4 H in annihilation of stopped antiprotons on nuclear-photoemulsion nuclei C, N, O, and S have been detected. It is established that a lower bound on the probability of formation of the hyperfragments LAMBDA/3 H and LAMBDA/4 H per antiproton stopped in the photoemulsion is (6.1 +/- 3.5) . 10(-4). It is shown that the most probable mechanism of creation of hyperfragments is charge exchange of the K- mesons formed in annihilation on the nucleons of the residual nucleus.
