摘要
•Recombinant expression of camel hepcidin in E. coli under a biologically active form.•The four disulfide bridges are formed without need of a renaturation step.•Camel hepcidin is less prone to aggregation than human and mouse hepcidin.•Camel hepcidin and synthetic analogs are able to induce ferroportin degradation.•Camel hepcidin present interesting inhibition properties against Leishmania.
