The Alcator C-Mod Program

To introduce this special issue, this paper gives a brief overview of the key themes in the Alcator C-Mod tokamak research program. These include energy, particle and momentum transport, wave-plasma interactions, boundary and divertor physics and technology, macrostability including disruptions and their mitigation, and advanced tokamak scenarios with profile control and non-inductive current drive.
