Despite an abundance of literature related to spinal trauma, there remains debate over the optimal timing of surgery for patients sustaining thoracolumbar spinal trauma. The majority of published reports suggest that early surgery improves clinical outcomes and reduces associated complications. The quality of literature remains relatively poor, and definitive conclusions are limited.
