An Order-Disorder Transition Model of Sodium Azide (NaN 3 )

We have tried to construct a simple order-disorder model which will hopefully reproduce one of the most characteristic features of the ferroelastic transition in NaN3 that the first order transition required by the Landau condition is quite close to the second order one. Unfortunately the present model has turned out to be not very promising.
