Palladium nanoparticles as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst in electrochemical methanol reformer

Palladium nanoparticles (Pd–NP) were synthesized via silica hard template (SBA–15) assisted method and used as hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) electrocatalyst in electrochemical methanol reformation (ECMR) process. Morphology and electrochemical performances of synthesized Pd–NP were determined by TEM, XRD and cyclic voltammetry method. Membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) were fabricated using Pd–NP and tested in single ECMR cell. The results show that, the synthesized Pd–NPs can be used as an alternative electrocatalyst for HER in ECMR cell.
