A distributed and efficient system architecture for smart home

AbstractTo improve the efficiency of deploying and calling of home services, this paper proposes a distributed service-oriented architecture D-SOA for a smart-home system. In this proposed D-SOA, a distributed bundle is designed for remote deploying of bundles and remote calling of services with open services gateway initiative OSGi architecture. Peer-to-peer P2P technology is adopted to improve communication efficiency between terminals of a smart-home system. A specific interaction mechanism is designed to transmit data, using the hypertext transfer protocol HTTP and the extensible markup language XML. Performance analysis shows that the proposed D-SOA achieves up to 37.5% reduction in network load, and 65% improvement in response time, compared to service central system architectures.
