Transcatheter Therapy For Mitral Regurgitation Clinical Challenges And Potential Solutions

Severe mitral regurgitation is a common and complex disease that is associated with an adverse prognosis. For decades, surgical treatment has been the standard of care. Recently, multiple technologies for transcatheter mitral therapy have emerged, with the potential for both repair and replacement in patients with native mitral regurgitation. Further rigorous clinical studies are needed to determine their efficacy and safety, as well as the appropriate patient candidates.
