An investigation of ensemble combination schemes for genetic programming based hyper-heuristic approaches to dynamic job shop scheduling.

•We investigated the combination schemes for evolving rule ensembles using genetic programming for dynamic job shop scheduling.•We identified significantly better combination scheme than the current majority voting.•We developed novel measures for analysing the behaviours of evolved rule ensembles.•Analysis based on the measures shows that the behaviours are largely affected by the combination scheme.
