Synchronized Svpwm Techniques For Five-Phase Drives

This paper introduces a set of synchronized Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (sSVPWM) techniques suitable to be used with five-phase voltage source inverters (VSI), for both static loads and adjustable speed drives. Medium voltage speed drives usually operate at reduced switching frequencies trying to minimize the semiconductors' switching losses. However, with low switching frequencies undesired low voltage harmonics appear on the load. The use of synchronized PWM techniques facilitates the minimization of harmonics generated by the power converter. The switching patterns and output voltage spectra corresponding to designed methods are presented and their effectiveness are validated by simulation results.
