A stochastic simulation-based holistic evaluation approach with DEA for vendor selection

•We propose a new vendor evaluation method by incorporating simulation and DEA.•The proposed method adopts a stochastic simulation scheme to consider uncertainties.•The approach evaluates vendors, procurement structure, ordering and safety stock policy of buyer, and demand variability simultaneously.•Experimental results show that procurement performance depends on the harmonization of supply chain rather than individual suppliers.
