Complexes between methyltestosterone and β-cyclodextrin for application in aquaculture production.

•The complex between β-cyclodextrin and 17-α-methyltestosterone has 2:1 stoichiometry.•Lyophilization is more efficient as a preparation method of the complexes.•Complexation in β-cyclodextrin increases the solubility of 17-α-methyltestosterone.•The complexed hormone shows a slower release profile.
