Area at risk and collateral circulation in a first acute myocardial infarction with occluded culprit artery. STEMI vs non-STEMI patients.

•No study has compared area at risk and collateral circulation between NSTEMI and STEMI with occluded culprit artery.•NSTEMI showed smaller infarct size, smaller area at risk, and higher collateral rate.•These differences applied to each of the 3 main culprit arteries.•First NSTEMI present smaller infarct size and higher collateral supply than STEMI.
