Isolation and structural characterization of a novel sibutramine analogue, chlorosipentramine, in a slimming dietary supplement, by using HPLC-PDA, LC-Q-TOF/MS, FT-IR, and NMR.

•A new sibutramine analogue, chlorosipentramine, was detected in a slimming dietary supplement.•The structure of the unknown compound was isolated and characterized by semi-Prep LC, LC–Q-TOF/MS, IR, and NMR spectroscopy.•The chlorosipentramine has the formula C18H27Cl2N (M.W. 328.32).•In the chlorosipentramine, the iso-butyl group on the side chain of chlorosibutramine is replaced with a iso-pentyl group.
