Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome with status epilepticus following surgery for lumbar stenosis and spondylolisthesis: case report.

•PRES is a life-threatening but usually reversible condition.•PRES commonly affects hypertensive or immunosuppressed patients.•PRES has been reported following CSF leak in spinal surgery.•Deterioration after spine surgery should alert the surgeon about the occurrence of PRES.•Prompt recognition and supportive treatment are key for recovery.
