Mining Healthcare Data for Markers of the Multiple Sclerosis Prodrome.

•Healthcare records may capture aspects of the multiple sclerosis (MS) prodrome.•Healthcare records of 8,669 MS cases and 40,867 controls were accessed.•Via datamining we identified specific health encounters predictive of the MS prodrome.•Physician encounters for sensory and eye disorders were associated with MS.•Urinary antispasmodics or anti-vertigo drugs were associated with higher odds of MS.
