A kinematic and kinetic analysis of the hip and knee joints in patients with posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction; comparison with healthy age-matched controls.

•Posterior tibialis tendon dysfunction leads to reduced gait efficiency in patients in their 60 s.•Characteristic changes in kinematics and kinetics are seen in knee and hip joints.•Patients with PTTD sustain knee abduction in both sides during the gait cycle.•Abnormal compensatory reaction is seen in the unaffected limb of patients with PTTD.
