Hyperspectral image compression based on simultaneous sparse representation and general-pixels.

•A new HSI compression based on general-pixel and SOMP.•A much sparser coefficient can be obtain by SOMP over the general-pixel.•Adopt the DPCM into the nonzero coefficients preprocess for further compression.•The proposed method achieve a better rata-distortion performance over several state-of-art method.
