Gaussian Message Passing Based Receiver For Multicarrier Faster-Than-Nyquist Signaling

Multicarrier faster-than-Nyquist (MFTN) signaling can improve spectral efficiency by reducing time interval and frequency spacing of the traditional Nyquist signaling. This deliberately introduces the intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interference (ICI), which makes the detection of MFTN signaling a challenging task. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity receiver to remove the ISI and ICI for MFTN signaling. A cycle-free factor graph is employed to represent the factorization of the joint posterior distribution of the transmitted symbols. Then, Gaussian message passing (GMP) is derived on the factor graph. Simulation results demonstrate that, the proposed low-complexity algorithm can perform dose to the MAP receiver. The spectral efficiency can be improved by 56% with less than 0.4dB bit error rate performance loss.
