Comorbidity assessment for mortality risk stratification in elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome

•Comorbidities are highly prevalent in elderly patients with acute coronary syndrome.•A simplified assessment of 6 comorbidities provided useful risk stratification.•Three comorbidity categories of progressive 1-year mortality risk were identified.•This information might be relevant for personalized management.
