•PDGF/Hep-PMSs were prepared to treat the rotator cuff (RC) tendinitis.•PDGF/Hep-PMSs decreased the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in inflamed tenocytes.•PDGF/Hep-PMSs are effective in suppressing in vivo inflammation of RC tendinitis.•PDGF/Hep-PMSs have also a great potential for enhancing tendon healing of RC tendinitis.
