Night-time Vehicle Detection Based on Brake/Tail Light Color

In the statistical analysis, most of the road accidents happen during the night time. The major challenge for reducing night accidents is to detect vehicles at night time and keeping distance between the vehicles travelling in front. While driving in dark conditions, vehicles in front are generally visible by their tail and brake lights. The vehicle appearance is different at night time when compared to day light due to various factors like color of the vehicles, reflection of light from the vehicle body and natural light. In this paper, we are proposing a method for vehicle detection based on brake/ tail light color from the captured color image.
