Design and comparison of exchange spectroscopy approaches to cryptophane-xenon host-guest kinetics.

•Exchange spectroscopy is applied to the cryptophane–xenon host–guest system.•Linear relations allow straightforwardly quantification of the exchange kinetics.•Degenerate exchange is unambiguously shown to be present in aqueous solution.•The different experimental schemes presented are broadly applicable in practice.
