According to the seventh edition TNM staging system for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the T component was divided into T1a, T1b, T2a, T2b, and T3, depending on tumor size cut-offs of 2, 3, 5 and 7 cm because of significant differences in the five-year survival rates of patients with lung cancer, which are 53%, 47%, 43%, 36% and 26%, respectively (1).
