Statistical method for on-line voltage collapse proximity estimation

•Statistical models are able to infer about voltage collapse proximity.•The method is applied to IEEE 14-bus system and the 190-buses Mexican equivalent.•The method provides a voltage collapse proximity measure under on-line context.•A strategy that permit a voltage collapse proximity estimation is proposed.
