摘要
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the antimicrobial photodynamic therapy with blue light and curcumin on the oral disinfection during 2h after treatment. Twenty-seven adults from randomized trial were randomly divided into groups (n=9): G PDT-treated with 30mg/L curcumin and blue LED (455±30nm)(400mW, 5min, 600mW/cm2), G Lonly with LED, G3 Conly with the drug. The saliva samples were collected for bacterial counts (colony forming units – CFU) at baseline and after the experimental phases (immediately, after 1 and 2h). The PDT group showed a significant reduction of CFU at immediately (5.71±0.48, p=0.001), after 1h (5.14±0.92, p=0.001) and 2h (5.35±0.76, p=0.001) compared with baseline. There were no significant changes for theLEDgroup. TheCgroupshowedasignificant increase of CFU after 1h (6.77±0.40, p=0.02) comparedwith baseline (5.57±0.91) and reduction after 2h (5.58±0.70) compared with post treatment (6.21±0.58). The PDT group showed significant difference in microbial reduction (p<0.05) compared to both light and curcumin groups until 2 h post-treatment. The new blueLED device for PDT using curcumin may be used for reduction of salivary microorganisms leading to overall disinfection of mouth.
