Synthesis UV curable epoxidized soybean oil acrylate using complex catalyst of chromium acetylacetonate and triethylamine

The UV curable epoxidized soybean oil acrylate was synthesized using complex catalyst with synergistic catalytic effect of chromium acetylacetonate and triethylamine. The various influence factors on the synthesis were discussed and the products were characterized by IR,1H NMR and13C NMR. The results showed that the complex catalyst had a high catalytic activity. The esterification rate was over 95% as the conditions as followed: m( chromium acetylacetonate) ∶ m( triethylamine) = 2∶ 1,mass ratio of complex catalyst 0. 3%( based on the mass of epoxidized soybean oil and acrylic acid),n( epoxy) ∶ n( acrylic acid) = 1. 1 ∶ 1,inhibitor p- methoxyphenol amount 0. 1%,reaction temperature 110 ℃ and reaction time 5. 5 h. After UV- curing the coating film was smooth and had good flexibility. The hardness and adhesion of the film was 3H and 2,respectively.
