(a) Decarboxylation of L-tyrosine by tyrosine decarboxylase from Streptococcus faecalis. (b) Decarboxylation of L-DOPA by hog kidney L-aromatic amino acid decarboxylase. The enzymic assay was the measurement of the remaining L-tyrosine (a) or L-DOPA (b) concentration after separation by ionexchange chromatography. Incubation conditions: (a) 15 min, 37°C in acetate buffer, pH 5.5, with 0.44mM-pyridoxal 5'phosphate; (b) 15 min, 37°C in phosphate buffer, pH 7, with 0.1 mM-pyridoxal 5'-phosphate.
