Background: Mitral valve (MV) repair has been accepted to be superior to MV replacement in younger patients. However, in the elderly population the evidence is less clear. Our aim is to look at the mitral regurgitation (MR) surgery experience from the Australian and New Zealand Society of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons’ database for elderly patients.
