Gas phase fragmentation mechanisms of protonated testosterone as revealed by chemical dynamics simulations

•Chemical dynamics reveal mechanisms of collision induced dissociation of protonated testosterone.•The peaks described in previous experiments are obtained.•Dynamics provided mechanisms suggested experimentally as well as new ones.•It is possible to use simulations to predict MS/MS spectra of steroids and potentially help doping detection.
