This paper examines operational optimization problems of processes including binary stochastic disturbances. Such disturbances can move the operating point suddenly and increase the probability of some undesired events. In such cases, the operational optimization over a time horizon may lead to infeasibility further down in the horizon and hence prevent finding the optimal operational actions at present time. In this paper, we present a strategy for relaxing the constraints of such optimization problems. We illustrate the method by an industrial oriented case study from papermaking.
