Assessing the relative importance of parameter and forcing uncertainty and their interactions in conceptual hydrological model simulations

•Uncertainties in hydrological modelling of 31 Irish catchments were examined.•Variance was decomposed using ensembles from 1 rainfall and 3 hydrological models.•Criteria choice effected the distribution of intra-annual uncertainty decomposition.•Uncertainty due to parameters was lower in wetter catchments.•Model selection had a greater impact than criteria on uncertainty from parameters.
