CFD investigation on Low-NOx strategy of folded flame pattern based on fuel-staging natural gas burner

In this study, we validated the Low-NOx strategy of the folded flame pattern based on a fuel-staging natural gas burner. Firstly, we proposed an improved scheme based on an in-service fuel-staging burner following the Low-NO. strategy. Next, we analyzed the modeling results of two-type burners, which were carried out by the commercial CFD software FLUENT 13.0. Finally, this article offered three major conclusions: the improvement method used in this article was validated as an effective way to achieve the folded flame pattern; the folded flame pattern can help to moderate the combustion reaction and improve the local hot spot in temperature field; the folded pattern improvement can bring a significant and steady NO reduction based on a fuel-staging burner; the mechanism behind the variation of the flame pattern should be considered as a criterion for further examination of the folded flame pattern.
