•CO2absorption characteristics of Li2TiO3with various density are investigated.•The XRD analysis decides crystallographic structure of a sintered sample.•The NRBS analysis evaluates the amount of CO2absorption quantitatively.•Amount of CO2absorbed by low-density Li2TiO3increases with increasing humidity.•High-density samples sintered above 1470K absorb little CO2 under high humidity.
