Outside-host predation as a biological control against an environmental opportunist disease

•We present novel epidemiological model for environmentally growing opportunists.•We assess disease control by predator consuming pathogens in the outside-host.•We present sensitivity analysis with possible population dynamics outcomes.•Continuous addition of predator may drive the pathogen to extinction.•Outside-host predation has potential in biological control of infectious diseases.
